Great points all around, sir. And I'd suggest that the Trumpers read a bit of history (perhaps I'm asking too much) and they'll realize how their modern, everyday conveniences far surpass the luxuries held by many elites from our past. The Carnegies and Vanderbilts would have envied climate controlled living, vaccinations and modern medical treatment, jet travel, ethnic food delivered to your house, the world at your fingertips. I could go on...
Trumpers should also look at the rest of the world in order to appreciate how much better off the standard of living is in the US. By any measure (infant mortality, life expectancy, literacy, GDP, access to clean water, sanitation, internet access, electrification, etc.) we outdistance the vast majority of humanity.
Even those in the fly-over, rust belt, left-behind, non-elitist, traditionally conservative, yada yada yada red states have it damn good. I get it, their way of life has changed so quickly and dramatically, that their heads are spinning and have lost their bearing. But hell, it sure beats India, China, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, South America, Central America, Mexico, and Antarctica.
So, Pat, forgo your usual issue of Gums and Ammo magazine, delay your next Big Gulp at 7-11, and pick up a copy of The Economist and open your mind and widen your perspective. I assume you do have book stores still in Texas!
Peter T.
