I just love good blues music. For the longest time on Saturdays and Sundays the public radio channel out of Bloomington, Il had this local DJ that went by Delta Frank "The Blues Doctor." He was so passionate about blues music and played really, really good stuff all across the spectrum. But you could just feel his enthusiasm over the airwaves.
A few years back he grew ill and had to stop the program (now they play a somewhat mix of Americana).
I think that is where I first learned of Joe Bonamassa and many others. I would listen and then mark down the time the name of the song played and then look up their playlist at their website to get the name of the performer and song title.
And finding music is one of the things I like so much about writer/director/producer David Simon (of The Wire, The Corner, Treme, Generation Kill, The Deuce, Homicide and others fame) - in his shows he uses such an eclectic range of music - Johnny Winchester, The Nighthawks, and so many others.
It's like looking for that next five star book.....
