There's certainly an element in Trumpistan that eagerly looks to the authoritarian, stern, father-figure, for leadership. Kindness and decency are viewed as weaknesses to these lemmings. Is it any coincidence that so many evangelicals are among his most devoted followers? God, how these people are so desperate to have someone, anyone, to follow, to lead them to the proverbial promised land, to tell them that everything will be alright and that this life isn't all that there is. If only they would use their own fairly evolved brains. They just can't cope with the uncertainty that this world offers; they need some order imposed on the chaos that invariably arises in our lives. They love resolute men of bold action. Men who never apologize. And they have an almost psycho-sexual attraction to institutions that represent power like the police and the military.
