I first discovered Fred Willard as the ever amiable, thoroughly clueless second banana, Jerry Hubbard, on Fernwood 2-Nite (later called America 2-Night). He and Martin Mull played off each other so well. That show was truly ahead of its time and if you aren't familiar with it, it's all over Youtube.  Fred was also hilarious as a dog show commentator in "Best in Show", and everything else he was in.
