Icon My Ride into South Minneapolis Yesterday

I rode my bike into South Minneapolis yesterday to see for myself the scene where George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police. I was immediately hit by a wave of emotion as I slowly walked with my bike past the numerous memorials set out in honor of George. It was a peaceful gathering of people, all seemingly there to pay their respects. Everyone I encountered was very respectful of one another. I then rode 3 miles east to where the riots from the previous night had played out. There, too, the people who had gathered were peaceful, and I would imagine, in some degree of shock by what had happened just a few hours earlier. There was a phalanx of police behind a chainlink fence that some of the protestors were shouting at, venting their rage, but other than that, it was quite somber. It was that same police precinct that went up in flames last night.

This is all so sad. I'm trying to understand what possible evidence is it that they're considering that's preventing the DA from bringing charges against the 4 officers. How long can it possibly take to examine the evidence? Meanwhile, South Minneapolis is on fire and other communities are at risk of suffering the same fate.

It's multifasceted and I'm conflicted about so much of it. I have no answers other than to say it's imperative that the 4 officers be arraigned on charges. The evidence is clear. George Floyd's murder was recoreded on video. What more do they need? Lacking indictments, the riots will continue and who can blame them? It's clearly not safe to be a person of color in Minneapolis and so many other cities in the US.
