Thanks, EEE, for that illuminating explanation. We're lucky to have your perceptive on so many things! I appreciate your mentioning what constitutes "assault" under the law. Given our short attention span, I think it will soon be forgotten, if it hasn't already, that on Thursday, Trump retweeted video of a supporter stating, "The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat." I don't care that the speaker subsequently qualified this, what will be heard is what will be heard, and we damn well know what that is! A presidential tweet, like a presidential retweet, can justifiably be taken as an endorsement of what is said. We've played the parlor game, "What if Obama had said that?" a thousand times under this scumbag president. Can anyone imagine the sustained, right-wing media onslaught if an Obama retweet had substituted "Democrat" for "Republican"? All decent Americans, irrespective of political affiliation, would have recoiled in horror and protested vociferously! So, did Trump's retweeting this dangerous, vile proclamation constitute "assault". Is it not a threat? Peter T.
