I'm an unabashed Timbuk 3 / pat mAcdonald fan since about as long as I've been fan of DB's. Pat's survived a go round with cancer and is thankfully still cranking out some tunes from his studio/hotel in Sturgeon Bay WI. This track was on an album several years back but at the time much bluesier and harder edged. I kinda like the spookiness of it being slowed down a bit.
these were Pat's words on the track - I wrote this for Purgatory Hill's 2nd album and it became the title track. On the album it's loud and raucus, but after my friend Geri X covered it for the "Begging His Graces" compilation, i've been trying it different ways. Her version is very emotional and mine is kinda halfway emotional. I've been practicing fingerpicking these days so i thought i'd try some out on this one. Also i enjoy the capo way up there on the fifth fret. If you want to play it without tuning your guitar down a whole step, try it on the 3rd fret. :)
