The boots that Trump has put on the ground aren't about establishing order. They are about getting the best, most telegenic footage that he can insert in his campaign videos. It's all so transparent. He doesn't give a damn about the black on black violence (the most woke would say that's racist of me), he just wants to provide the illusion that only he can prevent the country from descending into anarchy. And don't get me wrong, I abhor violence and the destruction of property and am all for arresting those individuals. I say let the mayors and governors handle it and should they feel the need to get reinforcements, that's their right. And let's expose violence by Trump's hired goons as well.

And it surely distracts a bit from his dereliction of duty on the Covid-19 front, but me thinks the virus is too consequential, visible, and long-lasting  an issue that his traveling road show production might go the way of Ishtar or Heaven's Gate.
