I agree with Ross that because where people get their "news" now is so splintered we just won't have someone like Cronkite that only had a few other channels to compete with. Now people can select what they want to hear...which I think has led to this prison of belief where they think what they believe is more relevant than facts or truth.
The entire QAnon movement is based on this. It's sort of sad that now when you turn on TV news the TV news stations actually report on what the other stations are saying constantly. So, FOX News bashes every other media outlet constantly. Trying to destroy any trust people have in anything but the lies spewed on their station. That works, people buy in. It's kind of funny because now because FOX has reported that Trump lost the election, I think they were one of the first to call it, now MAGA loons are chanting "FOX sucks!" at their events...because they told them the truth. They literally want someone, anyone, to lie to them.
Cronkite would be lost in this blizzard of bullshit.
