Check out Amazon Prime's Patriot series - it's really good and surprising (it does things other shows won't do). Chock full of sly humor and shocks.
For sheer brutality, check out Gomorrah (the series and the movie of the same name - though the movie doesn't have anything to do with the television series - there is also a companion movie called The Immortal - if I recall correctly, it takes place after the third season of Gomorrah). But you talk about a show featuring hell on Earth. There is nothing like this show - it is not afraid to go places other shows won't go. The fourth season just ended on HBOMax.
Like The Bureau, there is also Berlin Station.
Of course, then Happy Valley. What a good show with the wonderful Sarah Lancashire.
Line of Duty is fabulous, too, and the Season finale of Unforgotten had me bawling like a baby.
Netflix's Criminal drama series is good, too. Who would have thought a show consisting of mostly criminal interrogations would be so compelling.
Bordertown is also very good.
I could go on and on. There are so many shows out there and especially accessible if one goes to streaming services. On top of that, through Roku you can get so many free previews of different channels (and if you have Amazon Prime, you can cheat and get a free preview of say Starz and when it ends on AP, you can hop over to the Roku and get another free preview).
Lastly, the streaming channel TUBI is outstanding for free shows and movies. There are commercials, but considering the shows and movies are free, the commercials aren't too bad to tolerate. You can also watch TUBI on a PC.
