Well sure, I understand all that and I basically agree. I don’t think there will be any significant punishment for Trump but he likely will be disqualified from running for office for what he did and Barr just explained what he did and most of all totally clarified his intent which is the major issue legally. Did Trump know he was lying to and attempting to defraud the American public? According to everything Barr said, yes he did. He was told by the Attorney General it was all bullshit and went forward anyway.
Yeah don’t expect him to be frog marched out in shackles and an orange jumpsuit but a much more likely end is he can never run again. That is a simple if not really satisfactory outcome that even lets the sleazy Republicans that back him off the hook.
Keep in mind this is not a news person or Democrat saying this it is Uber loyal Republican Bill Barr saying this about Trump. It does not really matter what the wacko Trump supporters think about this it only matters how the elected Republicans react…which should be agreeing that Trump is no longer eligible to run for president per Attorney General Bill Barr.
Elected Republicans respect Barr so I don’t think they will question what he said and have no reason to.
Combine this with the emails from Pence’s lead counsel and they both confirm Trump’s intent.
Trump won’t like this because his whole reason to keep people thinking he will run again is he can keep fundraising. So he will look to deny this but honestly I believe this one sinks him.
