I would guess the main reason is that the protesters didn't quite go through with an actual coup. There seemed to be some who were keen on that and another larger group who were more in noisy protest mode (kind of like some Dems in summer 2020). But in the end, for all the bluster, they didn't commit a coup and didn't really get close. I am surprised that there aren't more national Republicans willing to stand up against the ego and narcissism of Trump that unquestionably fueled this. Unless he had real evidence of voter fraud to show, there just wasn't reason to protest in that way on that day. But he encouraged it, I think because his ego just cannot abide losing. That's a good trait if in something like WWIII (let's not do that). It's a tragic flaw in just about any other scenario. Surprises me that more Republicans, even those who like most of his policy ideas, cannot seem to see the negative side of that personality flaw.
