Don't know how many are familiar with the writing of Jordan Harper and though he has three novels under his belt, he is clearly an up-and-comer writer. He also has done screen/teleplay work. His previous novels are She Rides Shotgun and The Last King of California (both excellent crime fiction pieces). Anyway, I bring him up because I am now reading an advanced reader copy of Everybody Knows (out in early January) for review. While reading this novel my mind keeps hearing DB's Secret Silken World as the theme song, as well as Sirens in the City and Welcome to the Boomtown. This novel is about a young woman that is a scandal fixer for a sort of black bag company and the underbelly of LA and in the book Harper sprinkles in just enough true-life to really make the book flow. So far, it is a damn good book. It is just strange how DB's music and this novel go hand in hand.
