Sheryl can play pretty rough, it's true. But so can I, and so could Kevin, and so could Bill. We all deservedly have egg on our collective faces, and we all have plenty to be
ashamed of. People have died, and we've all grieved in our own ways, and we're all responsible in our own ways. I wasn't there for Kevin. I insulted him mercilessly. I took him for granted. I also should have known that A&M was never in a million years going to change the credits on the TNMC record to honour John Obrien. I knew David Anderle, the A&R man in charge of the whole shebang was a man who would say anything to end an unpleasant phone conversation, and that no matter what he said, nothing was going to change. I should have... done what, I don't know. John's dead too. It's true that I held/hold Sheryl and A&M responsible for that oversight, but I believe now that it was in fact an oversight in the rush to completion, and not a malicious
action so much as a sin of omission. I don't know if I'll ever get all warm and cuddly with Sheryl, but I don't think it fair to categorize her as a murderer. David Anderle is of course a corporate drone, and trained in the art of evasion and deceit. Maybe he, along with all the rest of us involved in that whole shameful episode have learned something from it all. The press has made much of all this, for their own reasons. They've misquoted me, and Bill, and I can only presume they've misquoted Sheryl, too. It's my sincere wish that all of us do as I have done, and make peace; with ourselves, with our deaths, and with each other.
