I mean, you've got a group of people, whatever remains of the MAGA crowd, which seems to be 30 to 40% of the Republican party, that do not think Trump is extreme. The guy tried to overthrow our government and remain president after he lost an election and has never stopped trying to do this. On several occasions just demanding Biden be thrown out and he reinstalled as president. He's got some bizarre idea that he was supposed to steal classified documents as he left the oval office and then be paid millions of dollars to return them. That the government is supposed to negotiate with him over how much he should get and he believes he should be paid north of $18 million dollars. He thinks that's how it is supposed to work. Seriously, and people still support him. It's wacko but none of this even phases his supporters. He makes one insane statement after another and his followers don't even blink. They are inspired by this stuff.

So, who is going to judge what is extreme?

This right wing nut Jesse Kelly just said that "This country needs a dictator. As the great John Adams said  a free country only works for "moral people". We are not worthy of freedom. A dictator is coming."

People liked that on Twitter. Seriously. This is what makes up a large portion of the Republican party. Extremists like Marge Greene, Jim Jordan, Tommy Tuberville (who has fully embraced White Nationalism), James Comer, are the people running the party. Trump directs this circus from Florida and is still the head of the party. These people sit on and head important committees making a total mockery of our government, It's utterly stunning that a sizable chunk of the Republican party likes all this.

But there it is. Meaning, yes, there are people that really like and hold extremist positions. They sit in government and they have followers and supporters that want them to get even more extreme.

FOX News is twisting in the wind. They are trying to back away from some of this, trying to get off of Trump and MAGA but these are the only people who give a crap what they say. They are getting sued right and left, they are going to be doing more huge payouts, they are firing people, their ratings have plummeted, and they want to back DeSantis, but he looks like a sure loser that Trump is going to crush. So, what can they do?

Republican politicians know that in most cases they can only win by very slim margins. They can't afford to lose a single voter, no matter what that voter is, racist, religious loon, person that thinks Democrats are baby killers, people that want Donald Trump to be anointed Emperor of the universe for life only to be succeeded by his twisted offspring. They need every one of them, so they try to appeal to all of that. Hence the total scum that now runs their party.

So, what is extreme is really dictated by the moment, circumstances, and of course, whatever beliefs one holds. It is not going to make any logical sense because logic, does not play into it.

When it comes to something like the Catholic church, I was raised in that church, they are making the determination of "In the end, are we doing more good than evil?" and that is guesswork. So, Trump is openly an evil man, but if he claims to support some of their positions, he is doing good in their eyes. So, they will support the evil man, believing it is "god's will" that he be put in power.

Is that logical and does it make any sense? Fuck no! They are not using logic and sense to make the determination and if you apply those things...well...you are doing the devil's work.

This is why I post videos of marmots taking a bath. It makes much more sense.
