When I was young, I lived and died by the Boston teams. As I got older I thought "what was I thinking?" It really is pathetic to get so wrapped up in one's team. Is the need to taste success so powerful that one has to live vicariously through men playing childrens' games? Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the glory years of the Boston Celtics and the Patriots Super Bowl victory was sweet, but to take one's passion to hatred and violence. I can't help but think that politicians everywhere are grateful that sports distract citizens from the things that matter. Like Kevin, just my two cents.
Peter T. P.S. I've shown restraint with regard to politics of late but I have limits. Did anyone hear Bush today as he spoke to the troops that just arrived back from Iraq? He equated the Iraq situation with keeping terrorism off of American streets. He is utterly without shame.
