So, I think among our other issues in this country, we have a rather giant problem with candidate quality, not just on the Republican side, where loons like Trump and DeSantis are the show, but on the Democrat side as well where they have run people like Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and waiting in the wings, Kamala Harris (who I have nothing against but she tanks as a major candidate because most of the country does not connect with her).
The majority of people in this country seem not to like nor want Biden and Trump to run...yet, that's the most likely final pairing we are going to get. Barring, of course, health issues for Joe and jail time (or at least being found guilty) for Don.
You do have to ask how the hell do we keep ending up with these dreadful options when 80% of the country does not want them.
Then we have RFK Jr. running, and I find him a good guy, but his chances of winning are ridiculously low, which is the one thing I question about his campaign. I mean, he is just being savaged by the media and people like Sam Harris and will gain no traction. Sure, I understand running to get ideas in front of the people, to have your voice heard in the town square, but that is no longer how politics and the media operates.
It is now a game of absolutism. You absolutely must believe this or that, or take this side or that, and you absolutely must smash anybody who won't fully embrace a side. I mean, I like Peter, with his friend who walked out on him, have experienced it. Plus watching the media now, and I am not just talking about FOX and the Right Wing stuff, they present things in this absolutist manner as well, like take this side or that side but pick a side.
Sadly for RFK Jr. he has tried to promote all sides talking to one another and to try not to look at the other side as bad, evil, horrible. Hard I know with certain Republicans, who he admits are bad, but he does not shut the door on conversation. This will not help him in his effort to run for president, but it is admirable.
Basically, I am watching his campaign to see how they destroy him and it is a pretty complete approach. I watched a guy on MSNBC essentially label him a murderer, Sam Harris call him a liar that should not have a platform, and others make a huge joke out of him reaching across the aisle to try to make him look like a fool.
Here's a kind of funny aspect of Bobby though, he is really the one candidate that is actually trying to talk to everyone and to bring everybody together...and he might be the one guy that could. By the time they are done with raking over the coals, he'll be barely a footnote. Do people talk to each other anymore or do they just talk at each other?
