Wow, that was an interesting read. Thanks for posting it, Andrea. That is the sort of fresh perspective that Kent did bring to this board, and what we will miss during his sabbatical.

I think that the author made a lot of excellent points. Both through my recollections of the public education system, and how I see it shaping the way my daughter thinks, much of the molding/conforming is true. There of course are some very positive benefits to society because of that, but we must also recognize the cost we have to pay for it as well.

All this leads me to think of the phenomenom of "groupthink", where completely irrational and dangerous decisions are made by teams of people that are all schooled the same way, and all have the same goals.
