I would say they will not save him. I've heard some Democrats comment on it and the idea seems to be unless the Republicans sat down to give some concessions to them, McCarthy and the Republicans are on their own. So, they can go to the Democrats and ask for help saving McCarthy, but don't come empty handed because the Democrats did not make this mess and McCarthy weakened the speaker position in order to get it. So, this is entirely the Republicans mess to clean up/suffer through.

The sane Republicans don't want to see Gaetz and those idiots embarrass the party so there are likely talks with the Democrats but when Gaetz pulled this, the Democrats openly laughed at him. I think they will let him do it and let the Republicans have to deal with it on their own...which really is fair because if this were reversed, Republicans would be cheering and gloating, not helping.

Everybody knew if Republicans regained control of the House, chaos would reign. So be it. Honestly, they have had great opportunities to step away from this stupidity over and over and passed every single time. They broke their own party, now they will have to fix it.

It is not happening any time soon but really it looks like what will eventually take place, the Republican party will collapse and have to split. MAGA will become a separate third party, which will be weak because it will have a small amount of members and so will not have control of anything. The old Republican party will become a more centrist party probably with people on the Democrat side joining them but for a good period this would leave the Democrats as the strongest party with the most members and nationwide support. People like Joe Manchin and Joe Lieberman probably can team with the old Republican party to build a following for their centrist movement. I don't think those guys on their own with No Labels can achieve what they want they probably would be best to stay out of 2024, allow the Republican party to collapse and then go for their centrist party by combining with the non-MAGA Republicans.

Due to the fact that MAGA is small but loud and large enough to destroy the Republican party, it seems the only solution is to let the party split. This would minimize MAGA and destroy their ability to continue the mayhem they keep creating for Republicans.

I mean, if the Republicans had a person that could step up and lead them away from Trump and his MAGA fools, well, they would have a chance but the primary voting shows, they have nobody that can do it. I think if they had that person he would be running against Trump. No such person exists right now. They thought it would be Ron DeSantis but he is just a worse version of the Donald with less personality.

This all hopefully ends up a lesson for our political parties. If you go too extreme, back total nutjobs, it will end up burning your party down.

My opinion though does not really matter. I still would rather know what a voter like Pat or Marc thinks because they were Republican voters in states like Texas and Ohio. What would they do if the Republican party split into MAGA and the politicians that are not MAGA? Who would they support?

I keep saying the civil war here is not happening between Democrats and Republicans, it is happening just within the Republican party. Trump is at war with Republicans. He and is little army of MAGA wackos are coming for them. It all benefits the Democrats.
