I'm a fan of Alex Garland, have not got to seeing this one yet. I highly recommend Annihilation though, and Ex Machina, and even to some degree Men, but that is a really weird one.
I do want to see Civil War, but it probably will be a haunting experience with the way some people seem to actually want one right now.
Garland is an excellent and highly intelligent filmmaker. I think Annihilation is as close as anybody has come to making something similar to Kubrick's 2001.
