I was all ready to watch The Hot Rock tonight as I was writing reports for work. I looked it up and google said that AmazonPrime had it but it wasn't on there. I looked again and it said that it wasn't available in my area. I was a bit disappointed. :(
I went to an election results watch party; the first I've ever been able to go to because the other years I had to watch absentee ballot counting, or had to watch polls close up, or take pictures of the poll tapes (the receipts from the voting machines), OR the most fun of all, drive from precinct to another picking up all of the democratic political signs.
So good news first: Fani Willis and the judge in the case both won last night. The judge was in a non-partisan race so he is finished and doesn't have another election. Willis will go against a Republican in November but Fulton County is truly overwhelmingly Democratic so she should really do well.
For the Democratic challenger going against Marge Taylor Greene, there is going to be a run-off in June between Brig Gen Shawn Harris who will do the best and some guy who evidently sent out a text to many many people claiming that Harris didn't vote for or support Biden. He has met Biden. Biden was his Commander in Chief, he said, there's "no way I wouldn't support/vote for him." Anyway, we've got our work cut out for us to A) win the run off because that other guy doesn't stand a chance against that crazy ass woman who calls herself her congressperson and B) we've got to get every blue vote out AND pull out the independents and "Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger" Republicans who haven't lost their minds to vote for the Democratic candidate.
The county I work in is represented by Barry Loudermilk, of the famous Jan 5th tour of the Capitol where he was just showing this family the special tunnel where the train is or some shit he was lying about. He had a great guy running against him who I don't think could beat him but actually did better than Marcus Flowers who raised $16million last year to run against Marge. That guy has been out talking to people across North Georgia since Spring of 2023 and was known from the 2022 election but was beat in the primary evidently by a Republican who qualified for the Democratic Primary and then the Republican committees in that district told all of their people to vote in the Dem Primary for her so he ended up losing.
The Democratic Supreme Court nominee who ran on supporting Choice lost as did another Dem Appeals court judge (non partisan races but we know those people are dems). At least we still have 4 people at Supreme and Appeals Courts that are Dems.
Those were the races I was most interested in. Although, Rep. Lucy McBath won her primary. She first won in 2018 and every time she has to run, the fucking republicans gerrymander her into a different district because they don't want her to win. She strong in gun reform as her son Jordan was killed in Jacksonville, FL while sitting in a car because some white guy thought these kids were playing their music too loud...
Anyway, that was primary day in Georgia pretty much. Local races turned out pretty much how I thought they would although so of the races with Repubs only running had surprising results.
