Because it allowed me to better understand and appreciate how we came to be, the immense struggles faced and conquered by our ancestors (who successfully passed on their genes to the next generation). We beat staggeringly long odds to be here today. I am humbled by the suffering they endured, the fears they coped with, and their tenacious desire to simply live. Being part of this human chain actually provides this non-believer with a comfort of sorts and a responsibility to not let their efforts go to waste.

Life is short, death is long and let's fight that drive to self destruction, right??
