Icon May as well prepare for the headline, Biden is out

Yesterday was the day the Democrats were supposedly going to have a summit and make the call, Carville says he is out. I have no inside knowledge, but looking at the tea leaves, it looks like Democrats decided he is not going to be the guy.

They apparently have to make the call before August first, so we are quickly going to know. This whole thing was handled horribly by the Democrats, it makes them look like they are in chaos.

Now, as soon as Biden says he is out, he's going to hand it all off to someone, and that someone certainly looks to be Kamala Harris. She is on the ticket, Biden may even step down from the presidency which would make her the president and probably seal her case for being the candidate.

Is she the best choice? Likely not. She is younger, she is smarter, she has been part of a very successful administration, I think the Democrats will put all of that on the table. The one thing she is not is popular and was not a good campaigner when she ran for president.

Democrats are likely talking about who to bring in, and I think in this situation, it is a short list. They probably are debating Michelle Obama (all accounts say she does not want to do it) and Gavin Newsom.

That may be the entire list. There may be a plan to put Harris at the top of the ticket and tap Newsom as VP.

Personally, I have no problem with Harris but I really wish she were a better campaigner. Newsom I think would be a good candidate, he already has sort of been out there campaigning.

I think I would go with him as the guy to step in for Biden, but the Democrats being the Democrats, I believe they will ride with Harris.
