This is one bizarre video that threw me for a loop.  It is from Live On Fernwood Tonight, hosted by Martin Mull and Fred Willard back in 1977.

What threw me was when watching it, it was hard to tell if Tom Waits was in on some sort of joke or in for a bout of humiliation.  And the brief interview at the end - if it was not scripted, then, wow.  Waits tossed out the snappy remarks left and right.

Also, the one new heartthrob actor Austin Butler could pull off a role in some sort of bio-picture that is for sure.
