We've all read about concerns the Democrats have in Michigan with respect to Muslim voters. This of course relates to the Biden administration's sustained support for Israel's battles in Gaza.
This got me to thinking about the diaspora of other groups here, especially those from Europe and Asia. Given Biden's strong and sustained support for Ukraine, isn't it reasonable to assume that a fair number of Ukranian-Americans, fearing a very credible loss of support from a second Trump presidency, would cast their votes for Democrats? I would think many other Americans with strong roots in Europe would feel similarly. Certainly, those from the Baltic states, the Nordic nations, Poland, etc. Do you see my point here? Looking at just Ukranian-Americans, there are about one million, and 122,000 are in Pennsylvania! I would hope that the Democrats are targeting this group in many ways including reaching out to Ukranian-American clubs, cultural centers, and knocking on the doors of those with Ukranian surnames. How many voters who went for the GOP in 2020 will now vote Democrat? I don't know but it could be consequential.
Similarly, in Asia, Biden has done a great job in shoring up our alliances with South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan. Americans with close ties to these countries know the threat post by China and realize that a Trump administration's commitment to Asian security is less than certain. Might they make the same security-minded calculation that their European-American counterparts make? One would think it's plausible. Again, I would hope the Democrats are aware of these voter outreach possibilities and act on them!
