This is exactly the game plan from organizers across the country. I sent David some info on a plan on what I’m working on down here. Working in small community groups and throwing sand in the gears is exactly what our mission is now. So tonight another group was added to the circle of groups in our community. The League of Women Voters which we started 6 months ago is going to be working on educating people on basic civics like when city council elections are vs county commission elections vs US House of Rep elections. What different local elected and appointed positions are and why they’re important to all of us, what being registered to vote in Georgia means and doesn’t mean. The first people to be educated are the people in the other affiliated groups like Liberal Women of Paulding County; Progressive Book Club; Paulding County Dems; Liberal Ladies  of Paulding and Cobb United; West Metro NAACP; Divine 9 Sorority & Fraternities; 10 primarily AA Churches. There’s a mix of partisan and non-partisan orgs but in basic units we will be breaking things down to break sure that our “people” -for lack of a better word- have plenty of food with community gardens should it come to that. Expanded medicine/first aid kits with hrt from menopausal women for people transitioning that can’t get their hrt meds; etc. Then in addition to the civics education mapping out which people live in areas where we need candidates for November 2025 city council elections and start recruiting for those to get people on the ballot. Along the way, of course, we’ll be launching challenges, having elected officials answer to us, their constituents. Too many people know too little about how politics actually touches their lives daily. We want to show them why they really do need to know about politics and be concerned, especially about local politics.
I know that the Cobb County League of Women Voters sued the Elections Board and the School Board and after several years they “won” but now they have to figure exactly what the won so we can do legal actions as well although we may leave that to state or more established orgs.
