I pop in here a couple of times a week and just realized it's time to stop creeping around like a spook. Most of you don't seem like crazed stalkers.
I first heard Boomtown in 1987 in college. I had a friend who listened to the title track incessantly. The years pass (okay, so only a couple of years pass, this is an anecdote, keep your shirts on), I'm reading Rolling Stone at the dentist, and I see this review for Bedtime Stories. I have no idea who this guy is, I generally don't buy music based on reviews, much less from RS, and yet something about the description compells me to go immediately and buy it. And what a good thing that was.
I also listen to Liz Phair, love Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell, Holly Cole, who else? oh yeah, Morphine.
I'm 34; hate my job; live in NYC; have a neurotic cat; am heavily in debt because of my unholy attraction to shoes; like my family; can't quit smoking, probably because I don't really try for more than twenty minutes; have never been convicted of a felony; don't engage in any especially intriguing sexual practices; do not worship Satan, unless occasionally watching "Fashion Emergency" on E! counts; take antidepressants; often leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight; and my first doll was a bunny named ... wait for it ... Bun-bun.
Oh, and this is a wonderful site.
