As the elitist of the elite, the "we don't need no stinking government" Silicon Valley marauders, and their VC financiers descend upon Washington, and on the necks of our citizens, I wonder... 

Do they ever reflect on the supremely consequential good luck that they were born with? The high IQs, the access to the finest universities, the social and business connections provided by their families? Do they realize that their highly prized skillsets wouldn't have afforded them much of an advantage as a hunter-gatherer, as a serf, as an artisan? Timing really is everything! Just having testicles places them ahead of half the population in that rarified world that they inhabit. Perhaps a little reading up on our lack of free will in Robert Sapolsky's "Determined" would reset their moral compasses and open their eyes and wallets to those born on the left side of the mean distribution for intelligence, income, wealth, physical and mental health, etc. etc. etc.

Similarly, as Musk and Vivek gleefully pine to slash government, which will surely harm the less fortunate, have they ever contemplated John Rawls's Veil of Ignorance, which asks the question, what kind of a society would you be willing to be born into, if you didn't know a damn thing about who you would be, who your parents were, the place you were born, your health, your grey matter etc. etc.   Ponder that question, DBIS friends, because I know the rabid dogs taking over in a week haven't!
