We signed up for Peacock in order to get Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, starring Colin Firth. He plays a doctor who lost a daughter on the flight back in 1988, which killed 270 people. The recreation of the plane splintering apart over the Lockerbie countryside is graphic, such a nightmare, but it's one that you need to see. I was brought to tears several times as the Firth character is ripped apart by the loss. It's much more than just a plane crash as there's terrorism, governmental malfeasance, geopolitics, etc.
Remarkable acting, and a much needed reminder of the horror of real human suffering. So much "tragedy" that entertainment and the media offers up is sanitized...not this.
Firth's performance bring to mind those strong, decent everyman types so impressively played by Gregory Peck, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda in the 40s and 50s.
Should you watch Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, be prepared.
