Icon Bedtime Steel, Van, etc...

To be honest, I can't quite remember. I find it hard to listen to Bedtime Stories in general, because of many choices, of which that may be one. The one that really gets me, though was a joke I was playing on myself, namely casting "The Best Inside You" in the style of an Army recruiting song, which I thought was funny at the time, but we did it so subversively and so seriously that nobody got the joke. Including, now, myself, who just hears a kind of turgid Eighties wank. Ah well, live and learn.

As far as Van and Bush... While it would be nice if he'd take the opportunity to perform some elaborate practical joke, he is Irish, after all, and a gig at the White House is a gig at the White House, after all.
I certainly don't begrudge him anything. I'm surprised they trust him not to do anything wierd, though.
I remember in the late Eighties Jerry Moss and Herb Alpert threw a party for Jimmy Carter to which I was invited, then suddenly disinvited again after a Secret Service check. But I guess Van's never been overtly political, really. Actually, I'm not even sure he's really of this earth.

Yrs,
