Icon unexpected sex & glitter

Just saw the "Dance" video last night... certainly a different side of David than I'm used to! Loved the "playing guitar in front of the oscilating light" effect that starts the video-- so simple, so lovely. Didn't get tired of it. Had to wonder if David was friends with any of the dancers-- especially the "peace and togetherness" lady. Thought that David sprinkling the dirty dancers with sparkly glitter was hilarious-- probably not what the director had in mind.

David, I was wondering how much (if any) of this video was your idea. The tribal paint reminded me of a quote from you in Rolling Stone about where the idea for the song came from (which can be found on the "news" page of this site). When I hear the song "Dance," I usually think not of dancing, but those "old west" movies where guys shoot at
the ground in front of someone's feet. You have to dance, not for fun, but to avoid harm in this world. I expected that to be more the theme of the video.

Do you like to dance? Was it your choice to wear the cross for this video? Did you find glitter in your hair for weeks afterwards?

Red-hot needles & bulletproof vests,
Melanie ;)
