I found John's web site WWW.JOHNMAYER.COM which is about as commercial as you can get; they even have some BS about John Mayer "Reps" to get the "word out" ...Anyhow, it has everything including photos, movie, soundclips. Amazingly achieved musician and songwriter for one only age 23, but then again genius is genius..and as far as musical virtuosos go..I suppose if you don't have "it" by that age, you never will, or it'll be damned tough later in life (what with the day job, the wife/husband, kids and the mortgage etc..)...but, didn't Elvis Costello work for years at something else he hated while honing his skills?? I think that was the case..correct me if I'm wrong.
Rolling Stone reviewer Anthony Decurtis gave it 4 stars, though I don't know what that's worth; you decide. He writes, " ...The arrangements, which are reminiscent of Elvis Costello and the Police , are built around Mayer's guitar but make free use of a rhythm section and keyboards. His singing meanwhile, recalls David Gray and Dave Matthews (with whom he shares producer John Alagia)." http://rollingstone.com/recordings/review.asp?aid=2043196
Anyways, happy listening, and Happy New Year !!
Now, I'll shut up,
