"Fan" is never far from "fanatic" in my book. It's an interesting offshoot of the more widespread belief among western media watchers that they "know" the stars they like, and somehow participate in their lives.
By the way Paul,I liked your Hays, Kansas post. The person who turned me on to "Bedtime Stories" also did time out there, working on a Masters. Before your stint, evidently.
