I picked up the new David Bowie Record " Heathen "
and I started my morning with it today, It is persuading me as I sit here writing this and it's after two p.m.. It is astounding. The man who been with us every decade since the sixties deserves almost as much respect for the state of music today as say, the Beatles and the Stones not to mention the Who. Speaking of which Pete Townshend plays guitar like Robert Fripp on "Slowburn" something I know both Baerwald and Ricketts would absolutely love. David has always said that Ricketts loved Robert Fripp, hell, listen to "Boomtown" the title track, and it's influences, I hear alot of Frippian geetaaar, not to mention an undeniable nod to the Steely Dan sound, "Being Alone Together" , which David has encapsulated in his solo career as well "Born For Love"-Triage, "My Eyes Are Open"-A Fine Mess, which is arguably one of best tracks out of the 28 on AFM. "Hey Hey Hey, now I feel like I am falling, hey hey hey." I hope it finds a home on DB's next release.
Will we ever see a follow up to Triage? with Bill Bottrell producing? I'd love to think so...David? so I understand you have a cd of "16 of the greatest songs Jeff Wells has never heard"? courtesy of our very own Peter Thompson, who compiled and delivered a very cool discs of songs to inspire me towards another avenue of musical landscapes. Your suceeding thanks Peter!
In regards to this board which I have monitored since 1997, thank god David is making his music public again. We can all be grateful that Dan has done an incredible job keeping us coming back to find out what is happening, and collect the latest Icon of "Baerwaldabilia" It hasn't hurt that the Subject of this board drops in just like anyone of us and posts what he enjoys and what's fuckin' with him and what he's thinking about, how personal is that? I've been somewhat of a vouyer
of this board,I'm here just about every day.
And the reason being is that there are very intersting individuals who post here, whom we all must connect somehow. Since I was involed with AFM I have been fortunate enough to meet a number of you face to face, as well as correspondance through e-mail. It's all been positive, thanks.
On a Final Note, I know I drifted on the Bowie subject matter, but know kidding at least demo it
on-line, It has my undivided attention, well...with
the exception of my post.
