Since I reset the board, the 'new' message icon is probably not working for everyone. The easy way to get it working again is to delete the cookies on your machine (in IE this can be found under 'tools' then 'internet options' then about in the middle of that menu there's an option for deleting cookies - someone else can chime in with Netscape instructions...).
