Hi everybody,

Had a wonderful trip to New York, and possibly my most memorable birthday to date.
My good friend and most dauntless supporter,
one Nina Kenneally and her delightful and charming associate Alison Summers put on a reading of my book at a local club called the Fez; and it was fun fun fun.  The crowd laughed at all the right places, and what a crowd they were, too.   All these legendary publishers, editors, writers,  literary agents, a smattering of actors...  Sean read brilliantly, as did Paul Rudd, who I'd never met before, but who has earned in me a lifelong fan, by dint of his graciousness, intelligence, and overall class.

All in all, one couldnt ask for a nicer thing for a fellow to do on a Thursday night.  The nicest thing, really, for me, was a deeply personal one; namely that a lot of these stories deal with periods of  my life that I've never felt entirely comfortable discussing in public in any form, and to hear them aired to the sound of laughter was like getting some particularly sweet form of redemption; as if I'd been keeping my role in a crime secret after I'd already been pardoned.  Or proven innocent.  And the fact that the writing and stories were so well appreciated...I'm babbling here, but either way I highly recommend the experience, and if any of you involved in the evening's events read this, please know that you gave me a very special gift, and I deeply appreciate it, for more reasons than I could ever tell you.

yrs,

David
