I attained my copy of A Fine Mess from EBAY and couldn't be happier. It was purchased for my birthday two years ago. The selling price? Around $185! I would have paid $500 maybe more. The fact is that at the time I had no clue of this site or that this music was out there.
From the way it sounds, we have all purchased something over these types of sites(EBAY, half.com, etc.)If it weren't for these sites there would be no possible way for myself and other fans to attain collections of their favorite artists.
While I don't agree with people making money off of these type of sites I am so glad i happened to search "baerwald" that day on EBAY and mention that i would love to have that to someone who in turn got it for me for my birthday. That purchase got my juices flowing again and brought me out of a funk I had been in since my parents got divorced.
I am as happy as i have been in a long time and David's music (as well as other musicians) provides me with that drive neccessary to want to better myself and strive to succeed. Again I don't credit the seller with giving me inspiration in my life, but I thank them for providing me the opportunity to have my ears graced with some of the best music, stories, and reflections they have ever heard - especially "Why".
I can say I have never bought anything that wasn't OOP or a collector's item nor will I do so if I have the potential to give the artist their "deserved" payment for their services.
I have since bought more things over the internet including a triage promo kit which David was kind enough to sign in Baltimore. That kit and A Fine Mess will eventually both be displayed when I get my own place as I treasure both of them. So I personally thank those people that provide the opportunity for me to advance my collections. While I may not agree with the mothods or like the profiteers in these type of sales, I do not regret the enjoyment I receive from the purchases.
BTW Kravitz I have made multiple copies of a fine mess and passed them out to people I thought would enjoy them. I hope to have the capability to join you on the copying network in a few months, right now I must travel about thirty miles to make copies therefor it is not feesable.
