There are several EASY things that each of us can and MUST do to throw sand in the gears and try to slow things down. It's one thing for us to sit at our keyboards and type our righteous anger and frustration with the new administration that has already fucked everything up so badly, but another thing entirely to actually make a difference. How can YOU make a difference?
Well, do you have about 5 minutes, maybe 8 minutes tops? Look up the phone numbers for your 2 US senators and your 1 US representative. They have a DC office and at least 1 home office. For now you can just write those numbers down if that's easiest for you but you need to PUT THOSE IN YOUR PHONE FOR EASY ACCESS FROM HERE ON OUT.
The next step can be the most formidable for some but reading from a script can make it easier so I am going to give you a script. Actually, I'll give you a variety of scripts depending on which party your senators or representative is from.
Democratic Senators: Hi. My name is ______ and I live in _______ zip code ______ and am a constituent of Senator ____'s. I'm calling to ask Sen. _____ to please vote NO on confirming Robert Kennedy Jr. for Health & Human Services Secretary; to vote NO on Kash Patel for head of the FBI; to vote NO on Tulsi Gabbard for DNI; vote NO on Marty Makary for FDA Commissioner; and to vote NO on Linda McMahon as Education Secretary. Also, I'd like a response from Sen _____ as to what the Democratic pushback will be to the imposition of 25% tariffs on our neighbors, allies, and friends, Canada and Mexico because this cannot stand and we need to see action from the Democrats on this NOW. My email address is: _________. Also, please tell Sen ______ thank you for representing our values. (Unless your Senator is Fetterman or someone else and you don't like how they are voting. It's always nice to thank your Democratic Senator or rep!)
