Over 19 years ago, I set out on an trip/adventure I still have very fond memories of. And also a regret. For lack of planning I had to cut short a hike from end to end of the magnificently rugged Dursey Island in County Cork Ireland. I snapped some pictures of the spot where I turned around (a little over half way) and vowed to return. Now 19 years later, I am setting off to complete that hike. Also - see the Steelers play in Dublin, visit the resting place of Phil Lynott, drinks loads of Guinness, spend a few in Ireland's second city, and above all, hang out with Mick. He's presently on a ferry traveling across the Irish Sea I think. I haven't told him, Reg, but a bit of the tuica is going along with me. I'm sure he'll handle it better than you did. But just in case I boned up on my cpr techniques prior to leaving.
If anyone reading this has been to Ireland, Dublin, Cork, West Cork and want to add some must see sights for me - that'd be great. Otherwise, Slán. Off to the IRE.
And if you want to watch a funny heartfelt buddy tale filmed in West Cork - check out The Young Offenders from 2016. A quote from the movie that's so apt for this trip - "There are two things you need for an adventure, a treasure map and someone dumb enough to go with you."
