Gene:The press that DLR did for his last tour and latest CD found him
acting like his ego was time warped back to 1980 when he
suffered his LOSS OF CONTROL . . . Back in the day, I was the biggest VH freak in all of Buffalo, NY. I
was a very visable guy at the shows. I got to meet and hang with
these guys quite a few times, and the guy that I enjoyed knowing
the most was Michael Anthony. He was the least ego-dependent
in the group. Eddie was/is the insufferable genius --- who used
to wail on guitar through the P.A. after the crowd left at the end
of the show. One night he went for a full hour --- and I was just
standing there stage left --- just in awe.David was a disappointment, I am sorry to report. Yes, we partied
together --- I was at his 26th birthday which was at the
downtown Syracuse Holiday Inn on the Diver Down tour. These
were parties where guys were snorting coke off the bums of
strippers. It was some hard core and over the top stuff.I also got to see the infamous VH contract rider --- the brown
M&M's thing. Their image was carefully cultivated --- and it
seems like Dave is still on that same ego scene (to borrow a
phrase from the Jimi Hendrix Dixk Cavett interview) and it seems
more than a bit pathetic at this point. The guy is going BALD fer Pete's sake! (or fer Pate's sake!!)KDB = Buffalo, NY USA
