As a resident of Wisconsin for 29 of my 39 years, I am finding it more and more difficult to act proud of this state. There is just so much to be ashamed of, from the horrendous blackmark of being the birthplace of the Republiklan party, to having to hide my head in disgrace every time some idiot is filmed in public decked out in a foam wedge of swiss painted as though it were cheddar. But the thing that really truly makes me wonder "What the F" is our indisputable connection to cannibalism.

We of course have Ed Gien and Jeff Dahmer in our hall of shame, and only by some twist of fate did Albert Fish not settle here. So what is going on? Today an interesting story caught my eye:

Accused cannibalist on trial

KASSEL, Germany (AP) — A computer expert accused of killing, dismembering and eating another man who allegedly agreed to the arrangement over the Internet went on trial for murder Wednesday at a court in central Germany.

Is it Wisconsin's Germanic heritage that's to blame? Can anyone shed some light on this?
