The Militia's worry me.  Y'see...they live in this self-imposed facist police state sort of existance anyway (stereotypically) and so acting up and bringing attention of Law Enforcement/National Military would just be more of the same.  Where's the deterrant?  "Stop living like you're at war, or we'll go to war with you."  Translation into English: Stop or I'll say Stop, again!

I certainly don't want to see them made illegal...I mean, not even I want to mess with the constitution. But the thing that keeps them from acting is the lack of a common goal.  So, if some charismatic joker in camoflage like the guy in that article rises up and starts coordinating and organizing...we're in big trouble.

That is based on my IMPRESSION of what these folks do. I've never really studied them so I may be WAY off.
