I figured it would not be long for someone to gloat. With that said, I do not know anyone who has been a
critic of this mess say that Hussein did not deserve to die like a dog. But that is not the point. From the start of this mess the US Govt has lied, the US Congress has abdicated it's roll in a constitutional declaration of war and US citizens have happily eaten so much bullshit that we should all be gravely concerned about our ignorance. Throughout the hunt for Saddam, I have continually told those in conversations that I do not think things will change with his capture. That we simply do not appreciate the culture of the Mid East and ignore how things are over there. As a country we are too arrogant to fathom their culture and this has been seen again and again. One indication of what may come is how Hussein was found - deep in a hole, mostly alone and living like a hermit. I just hope our soldiers do not get lax in their security and give their enemies an opening to attack them. I think it will worsen over there for some time and they have to be careful. (It's not being reported, but on this same day, a suicide bomber reportedly killed 20 Iraqi police officers).Don't get me wrong, getting a despot like Hussein is great news, however,to me, in this case, the end does not justify the means in this case. Shrub and his people should have been truthful with us from the start.
