How many people would he have had to murder before you'd think its ok to act? Didn't he kill enough Kurds? If war isn't the answer, eight years of talking wasn't the answer and decades of appeasement and `understanding` didn't work - do you have any other suggestions?  

Unconditional surrender wouldn't work either... one of the reason why 9/11 occcured and why Saddam got into the brinksmaship with the WMD's is because both times they believed that America would pussy out of a fight. There may be some well meaning-liberals who would be happy to see America pussy out of this one - but whose going to prevent an apocalypse because a few morons out in the middle & far east get nukes from the Russian mafia and decide to hold the free world to ransom? Some might not be bothered at the thought of dying in a fiery inferno or a nuclear holocaust - but I would quite like to avoid that scenario (if that's ok with your more liberal sensibilities)  FYI, the majority of Iraqis/Iranians/Syrians/Palestinians can also avoid that if their `leaders` can be eliminated. If they want to be martyrs, I say we send in the troops and help them fulfill their goal.
