Fine, you think he's an idiot - but I have yet to see you or any other voice on the right provide any solid proof of an imminent threat from Iraq or refute any argument raised in the Senator's comments.  The resolution the White House submitted asks Congress to grant the President power to make Unilateral, Pre-emptive strikes on any country the he deems to be a threat to national security.  I don't know about you, But I'm not willing to give that kind of power to any President, from any party, at any time.  Trusting the President is not an issue in this for me.  That type of power smacks of Empire, and is in direct opposition to the founding principles of this country.  This country has never started a war, and God willing, we never will.

As to whether Senator Byrd matters, yes, he does by virtue of his elected post.  The White House would not be putting on the full-court press for passage if every Senator's vote weren't at stake.
