More 70's vs 80's

Try listing bands that were popular in each decade and see how many more from the 70's remain popular and are even still around. How many bands from the 80's still exist today and how many have records that continue to sell?
REM and U2 come to mind. The Police but they want nothing to do with one another. I think they were the big three weren't they? As far as rock 'n' roll supergroups go that came out of that decade. I could be wrong because I don't really recall...a lot of that...ummm...decade....
