Actually, I've never defined myself as a liberal. These days when I think of liberals I think of Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis. Not very attractive.
FDR was a liberal but they don't make 'em like that anymore. Some people like Al Franken are trying to reclaim and reinvigorate the label but good luck.
I think that the neo-cons have been very effective at defining liberals and that maybe the definition, as it used to exist, is lost forever; sort of like the Whigs.
So you can call me what you like but I don't think "liberal" quite gets it.
