hey, dance like no one's watching, love like you've never been hurt, and promote like you don't expect to be thanked, you know?
i've bought/given away/burned many copies of HCTNFU for my friends and fellow musicians (and chatted him up so flatteringly on the Hiatt site that a dozen folks picked it up - and they love it, natch), and i do it because i want people i care about to have what i consider to be excellent music. kent, you are very passionate/informed/opinionated (and i like that about you), but we can set ourselves up for disappointment when we want/expect/need things from other people too strongly. i recognize that you've gone quite far out of your way to spread the good word and tunes (and here's my salute for your efforts, if it means anything), but DB is a busy man. when he played here in SF, i totally enjoyed hanging out with him for a bit afterwards, seeing a picture of Connor, and chatting about whatever. i gave him a demo CD of some of my solo stuff and would love to hear what he thought of it, but i haven't heard a peep. i've found what i believe to be his personal email address, but i haven't contacted him and don't plan to. while he's cool enough to be a regular here, his privacy needs must outweigh my approval/feedback needs.
additionally, he began the Slim's show by saying, 'first off, i want to thank you all for coming out tonight', and he even signed my pilfered set list, 'thanks for coming out.' i found him to be quite gracious. record sales notwithstanding, the fan base is too big for him to tell us each personally. i know he appreciates all our support, so hang in here.
best,
Brad
