I love 'em. And oddly, the Black Rebels just got dropped from their label. Also, this makes me feel a real codger, but one of my best friend's (my first guitar teacher) daughters is going out with the singer from Maroon 5. She has a scrappy little band, too, called The Like. Went and saw Marianne Faithful a few weeks ago with her, her mom and dad, and a friend of hers. BTW, in between wrestling with the movies, (and with fruitcake theofascists) I'm writing songs for Marianne. Just love her. Will see what comes of it. Speaking of theocrats, I worked a bit on a wierd little movie called "The King", which stars William Hurt as a troubled televangelist with bad sideburns, and Gael Garcia Bernal as his troubled illegitimate son with a stolen rifle. Very troubled. I wrote a Christian "praise song" for one of the actors to perform onscreen if you can believe it. Called "My Arms Belong To Jesus". Oy. Interesting movie though. Luminescent young actress named Pell James is in it, and through that I got her the lead of this romantic comedy I'm (hopefully) almost done with.
