Hello Darkness is a great tune IMO, and Ocasek's solo albums are generally very good.  If you don't have the full collection, I suggest starting with his first and his most recent: "Beatitude" and "Troublizing," respectively.  The ones in the middle are good too.  I'd probably put "Flowers of Evil" lowest on the ladder, and "Quick Change World" much higher.

"Quick Change World" (which I think is a great double-entendre) was the released version of what Ocasek wrote as "Negative Theatre."  "Negative Theatre" was a conceptual piece that holds together better than QCW.

Real Ocasek/Cars nuts have been finding recordings by Cap'n Swing and Milkwood from the 70's.  Don't ask me how.  Wish I knew.
